I want to build my own solar heating system hot water .. Where do I start?

I've been searching the net for information or plans to build and install my own home solar heating hot water. Everything seems to come is through advertisements and links asking for me to send money to the plans. Can anyone suggest a place where I can find plans and detailed requirements and information about one of these systems. I dont mind actually paying .... So I will not be cheated ... Any feedback or advice appreciated.

I saw a book at Lowe's to make a solar hot water system. I have enough projects for the moment, so I do not understand but it set the wheels spinning along its lines of thought itself. I love a system for my pool. This would mean that could swim in a pool heated in winter. That alone would be worth doing so. It was $ 20.00.

  3. One of your first stops should be here:http://www.californiasolarcenter.org/ind…
It is a good primer, of what to expect, and if you explore the site you will find something on homes.
If you’re handy enough then: Even though they’re turning into a “This old House” magazine (which by the way is the reason I stopped subscribing), you should be able to search the archiveshttp://www.motherearthnews.com/
Or for real world advice with people who have made their own and for those that have bought such things you could join on Yahoo’s homesteading group such as:http://groups.yahoo.com/group/homesteadi…
And finally a company which I have no interest in other than the phone calls I make and they’re very good in answering questions and have a wonderful catalog is Radiantec: http://www.radiantec.com/index.php
    Here’s hoping this helps:
