boost momentum loss problem?
my 1998 Grand Prix GTP pulse meters rarely reaches full boost, does anyone know why going to happen. I used to go all the way with only a little gas now isn't not even at full capacity. there may be a leak of admission, I had to replace The fan about 3000 miles to the boards are fairly new. would be the outside air temperature or humidity has nothing to do with it. 90 degrees and humidity here. Any feedback would help thanks
Chances are it's not a drain on admission, which will have signs of leakage, even at idle. There is a couple of things that can affect the levels of momentum. Band slippage is common. Check out their belts, if you see any black powder residue boost a pulley or even the top of the bell on the pulley, then you are getting belt slippage. Another could be the elevation. At altitude, you lose pressure supercharger. The bypass valve may be set incorrectly. If the bypass valve is not closing all the way under full boost then you will not see full boost pressure. Acuator Check bypass valve located on the side of overfeeding. It is connected to a line vacuum and a little swing arm. Sometimes after a reconstruction of the unit do not realize how used to. So it is possible that the new rebuilt unit simply does not accumulate as much momentum as the older unit. Another thing that can increase the effect levels are modifications to the car. If you just add headers, CAM ... or anything that makes the best engine breathing, you will lose some boost pressure. Perhaps the pulley that came in the reconstruction unit is the wrong size. If pulley reconstruction unit is larger than the old one, you will see less boost pressure. Eaton Pulleys go sizes that differ in .10 of an inch, so that the pulley could be the same, but in reality might be different. If fuel pressure is running to rich or poor, can cause you to not build full boost. Maybe you need to be tuned? These are just some of the common problems that can cause pressure Supercharging incorrect. More common by the sliding of the belt which has and bypass valve.
