When two reactants bind with ionic and when they are joined by covalent bonds?
When you have two reagents and coalesce, there are 2 modes that happen. Covalent and ionic bonding. When a union type occur, then why not the other union? (Chemistry) x
It depends on the atoms forming the union: the bond metal compounds through covalent bonds, which means that share one or more pairs of electrons. If non-metal and metal compounds to bind to each other, the metal compound releases its electron (s) and "donates" to the non-metallic compounds. Thus, the compound is positively charged metal and nonmetallic composite becomes negativiely charges, now that bonds ions through an ionic bond (attrackted from office). The different types of compounds (sites that are metal, not metal or semimetals) can be determined from the periodic table of elements. An example a metal atom is Fe (iron), while a metallic compound would be C (carbon).
