The government favors energy saving light bulbs such as fluorescent compact lamps (CFLs) and light emitting diodes (LEDs). Both are used in households in the United States, but the CFLs have been available for longer. There are several advantages and disadvantages of using these technologies. Consider the following:
Pros and cons of compact fluorescent lamps
Compared with incandescent bulbs, compact fluorescent lamps burns 10 times more on average. Compact Fluorescent Lamps Energy Star rated use less energy, about 75%, resulting in savings of $ 30 during the life of a single bulb. However, CFLs take longer to warm up and cold produce more light than incandescent bulbs. Manufacturers responded to customers who complained about the poor quality of lighting provided by lamps compact fluorescent, by developing a new generation of incandescent bulbs that resemble.
CFLs are closer to the incandescent bulbs in terms of illumination falling between 2700 and 3000 on the Kelvin scale.
